Special Prayer Request for Emily Olivia...

Thursday, September 18, 2008

As I write this blog entry my eyes are watering up... Last year John and I signed up for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. It's an organization that is for infant bereavement photography. Basically, when a parent gives birth to a child that is either terminal or has a major health issue, they call on one of us to come out to the hospital and capture what may be their last moments with their newborn. Last Sunday, I got one of those calls. When I hung up, I was in tears for the family. We didn't know a whole lot of what was going on except the baby was born with 3 heart defects and was going to need heart surgery immediately. As soon as there was an opening at the hospital between the doctors coming in and out, we made a time for me to come down and capture a few photos. Below are just a few photos that I managed to get, it was really hard seeing little Emily with all those tubes and being only 3 days old, but I know God will be with this family no matter what. Emily goes in for her heart surgery today, and I'm asking for prayers for her and her family, and that she pulls through stronger than ever.

Kenzie, I just wanted you to know how proud I am of you and John. As a parent who has lost children, NILMDTS is a great service. I wish I had known about it sooner. God Bless you for giving these parents such a wonderful memory.

What beautiful images you captured of a precious little girl and her loving parents. I will continue to pray for little Emily in hopes that she pulls through her surgery and lives a very long and happy life. Please let me know how she does if the parents let you know.
