the dutiful wife.

If I could pick an era to live in, it would be a toss up between the late 1940's and the early 1950's. Here's one reason why. Yesterday, while I was writing out my grocery list I decided that I wanted to make a meatloaf at some point this week and I wanted to bake cookies that day before John got home. Then I thought to myself, "wow, I've really got this little wife thing going on", lol. I thought back to when John and I first got married and how I always dreamed of being the stay at home wife/mom, kind of like back in the fifties or something, with my hair perfectly curled, wearing a cute little dress (and apron) all while vacuuming and with a pot roast cooking in the oven ;). Well, I haven't quite nailed all the above, but most days I do try to at least do some of these things. Most mornings I wake up with John at 6am, make coffee, get breakfast ready, and on mornings I'm feeling extra awesome, I'll make his lunch. Then I head to my desk and start working. In between editing I usually take breaks to workout, get ready for the day and try my absolute hardest to do laundry and make sure the house is nice and tidy. Then, I force myself away from the computer around 4pm to make sure I have a plan for dinner :) I hardly ever keep this going for more than 2 days. But I always try. Why am I sharing this you ask? Well, I'm being real. This is who I strive to be, and while looking to the future to see where I'm headed in all the changes taking place around me, it helps to look at who I am right now, a 1950's "housewife" trapped in 2009 ;) However, I did come across this article talking about the return of the 1950's housewife, which I found very interesting and super exciting :) Looks like its time to pick up a sewing machine ;)

p.s. I LOVE this apron from anthropologie ;) and its a must have on my Christmas list :)

Kenzie ~ had to comment!!!! I swear we are long lost sisters! =) I feel the exact same way (and I made a meat loaf last night...not even kidding!) I get up every morning with my husband at 5 am (he works at a golf course) make coffee, clean up the house, do laundry etc. Edit all day with breaks to eat and work out and yes I am required to force myself off the computer about the same time to enjoy my time at home with my hubbie! And I LOVE that apron!!!!! =) You are too cute!
