Going Blind...

Monday, December 17, 2007

Well, today was scary! I had a follow up appointment with my eye doctor for getting new contacts, and I was really excited to have my prescription updated because I have an astigmatism and these new contacts will allow me to focus much quicker (yay!). I usually have trouble when I'm under florescent lighting and my eyes just don't focus at all. Anyway, when I left my appointment I headed straight to the bank. When I walked in I realized my eyes weren't focusing, so I put a few drops in my eyes while I waited in line for the teller (strange I know) and I noticed some guy was kinda staring at me. I was a little creeped out, but just turned my head the other way. Then I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to run to the bathroom and fix my contacts. When I looked in the mirror my heart dropped and I think I let out a small shriek! What I saw was something you see in a horror movie. My Right eye was completely dilated! There was no color in my eye, just this HUGE black pupil! and the other eye was the exact opposite, you couldn't even see my pupil. I was TERRIFIED (no wonder that guy was staring at me, I would too)! So, I ran out of the bank and called my eye doc immediately, of course he had me come in and the only solution we could come up with was somehow I ended up with the drops they use to dilate your eyes, we think it might have been in the solution the contacts came in or something (scary!) I thought I had a brain aneurysm or something. I was afraid I was going blind or dying (I'm a little dramatic). So, needless to say, I'm ok now, but they are going to do a few more test this week to make sure that is was just that and not something more serious. Good lord. I found this picture off the internet to give you an idea of what it looked like...but mine was waaaaay worse, as I mentioned before, the pupil took over my entire eye. yikes!
