Flight Plan.

Thursday, May 29, 2008

Do you ever notice that life is like an airplane trip. It starts out going up, you're nervous, you feel the pressure and stress as you go higher and higher, then you get to the top and sometimes there is turbulence, you're not quite sure you'll make it, so you tighten the seatbelt, as if tightening it anymore will keep you in the air if the plane were to go down. Then sometimes if there is a storm below, the flight is re-routed to another city and you feel a bit lost, but then you realize that this worked out better in the end for everyone. Welcome to my life. What I'm getting at is this, this weekend marks a weekend of many changes and acknowledgments of past and present goals. When I was 18 I fell in love with the show Sex and the City. I've never really felt like I resembled any of the girls (although John thinks I'm a Charlotte), but I did always admire that Carrie was a writer and she was living her dream and doing what she wanted, all while living in New York City. At 18, I admired her. I was fresh out of High school, moving out of my parents house and confused about my future. The pressure was on.

And now, this past year, after taking the plunge and going full time with my passion of photography, I feel like I'm finally living MY dream and doing what I want for a living. It's an incredible feeling. Not only does my job allow me to capture life so the family can hold onto those moments forever, and I can finally show people whats in my head (since I can't draw it, I can shoot it). But, it also allows me to travel. The Lord put it on my heart years and years ago to travel the world and now I'm able to do it one city (and state) at a time. Pretty soon we'll be all over the world, lol. This Summer we're shooting in Indianapolis and Boston (I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Boston), then of course numerous places all over the state of Florida (some of which I've never heard of) and then in November, the day after mine and John's 3rd Wedding anniversary, we're flying out to the Dominican Republic to shoot a wedding. God is so GOOD! Bring on Paris! :)

The only down side to all this is I'm deathly afraid of flying. I've only flown a few times in my life, and each time John was there to calm me. Tomorrow, I fly out alone to Jacksonville to shoot a wedding with Scarlett. Instead of bringing a good book to read, I think I'm going to bring THE Good Book to read. :)

This all ties together because, tomorrow morning we are finally closing on our house (long story, it took longer than we had expected) I fly out to Jax as part of my dream job and sex and the city comes out with a movie, which I will be attending with a few girlfriends after we have a few martinis :) Lord knows I'm gonna need them after my flight, lol. Even though I haven't quite "landed" yet, after looking back on the last 7 years and looking at my life now, I'm anxious to see where where my next destination is on my current flight plan.

I can't wait to see the movie! And after all the fun you and Scarlett were talking about, I almost wish I could have gone to the packed theater on opening night too!
It was wonderful meeting you on Saturday! I hope your flight home was calm and uneventful! : )
